A switch is known as a Layer 2 device, meaning it can only interact with MAC addresses; not IP addresses.

MAC stands for Media Access Control and every device that has networking capabilities must have one.

A hub is accomplishes the same task as a switch but rather than sending a frame (packet) to just the target machine, it sends the message to all machines.

All messages sent through the switch are known as frames. Sometimes also known as packets.

The MAC addresses of devices are stored in the switch’s CAM cable.

CAM stands for Content Addressable Memory.

WAP (Wireless Access Point) acts very similar to a hub.

Managed/Unmanaged switch’s send frames with L2 header, so they go to the specific device located in the CAM cable.
